Y u probs shouldn’t but also should start a CD collection 💿
To CD or not to CD that is the question
This weeks thoughts:
So I have a CD collection... I think that basically everyone listens to some kinda online streaming platform (me included) but some ~vibey~ ppl still buy CD’s. So should u start ur own collection?
Pros + cons:
Feeling: For me the small booklets with photos and lyrics and being able to have an ‘aesthetic’ collection that you can look back on give CD’s a sentimental value which I am happy to pay for. Also, buying a CD directly from an artist also makes me feel like I'm supporting them (even though ik artists get paid for the amount of Spotify streams) and gives me a sense of connection to the artist.
Price: Sure I MAY have spent a LOT of money on music (probs over $400) but that’s my thing and that’s what I like. There’s just smth about having tangible music and putting a CD in the player then watching it make cool patterns when it spins.
Quality: CD’s have been proven to have better sound quality than streaming services because the music files are stored in more space (u don't rly notice the difference like in general but when u compare the 2 u can tell).
Scratches and portableness: As for CD’s jumping when you get the slightest scratch on them and having to carry them around, I have to agree that it can be annoying but tbh it's kinda hard to scratch a CD when u payed $20 for it and u rly love it. And u can also rip the CD onto your phone to play when ur not home, though it does defeat the purpose (or use a walkman like I would except I don't wanna look sketchy 🙃).
Environment: So there’s some controversy over whether CD’s are worse for the environment because they're made from plastic as well as CD players, but there have also been studies conducted that discovered that streaming music may have a greater impact on the environment. Idk which is more eco but at the end of the day they both impact the environment 😢.
Conclusion:
Overall, listening to music in general has many positive benefits like reducing stress, improving memory, providing comfort etc. So you decide, I think if music is ur life and therapy then u should maybe buy a CD and this very cool CD player but otherwise it’s probs best to just stick to Spotify (or apple music pls don't come at me).
Side note of what songs I've had on repeat:
Hope you have an upbeat week

Music is the soundtrack of your life.
