This weeks thoughts:

Y is it that we all just discard vanilla as boring (except for vanilla lovers)??? Vanilla deserves more respect, so today I am representing the flavour and coined term to do my duty to the vanilla society. Also before you say 'I don't hate vanilla', the opposite of love is indifference.

Flavour:

Ok, stop dismissing vanilla as a boring/ plain flavour on the icecream board/menu thing (I am guilty of this). It is one of the most expensive spices in the world and we in our privileged first world lives dismiss it as just 'eh vanilla'. Vanilla is actually a super complex flavour. Have u tasted water? Does it taste like vanilla to you?? Vanilla is NOT plain. Vanilla was a once very special ingredient ok, and just like wine can vary in flavour because it is actually an orchid!! Also just because u don't like artificial vanilla doesn't mean u don't like sophisticated real vanilla (like I hate strawberry thick shakes but love fresh strawberries). U know what, next time u have the opportunity to get quality vanilla (ice-cream or cake or whatever else) get it. Just this once.

Term:

Who coined the term 'vanilla' to be boring/ normal?? It is an injustice. Like imagine u r a complex spice/ plant that can be used in so many dishes and fragrances and then the world turns it's back on u and coins u as boring. How would u feel? Also can I point out the irony in that the terms 'vanilla' (boring/ bland) and 'spice' (interesting/ bold) are opposite...

The moral lesson (we love deep messages):

Don't take something u regard as 'a simple thing' in your life as boring or everyday. Find the beauty in simple things and realize that they rn't rly that simple and that you are so lucky.
