Trends
My take on them
This weeks thoughts:
Hello!! So today I thought I'd do a run down of all my thoughts on current trends.
What are trends?
No I’m not analyzing stock market 📈 trends #😒. I’m talking bout trends that are, quote: Something that is popular at a particular point in time #😎.
Why are they significant?
So the main reason I think that trends r so interesting is because they basically just reflect society’s vibes and values. They’re a literal time capsule that can say so much about a certain time period.
E.g.
2000’s low rise pants → reflects the body image stigma at the time.1970’s hippie style → reflects the shift in social values around love, politics, religion etc.
Current clothes:
Everything Y2K: Cute tight tank tops, mini skirts, oversized zip up jackets, tie front tops, layered emo or cute necklaces etc.
I do like the cuteness of this trend but it defs gives super cheap shein vibes, and you can just tell that it will go out of style soon. #fastfashionvibes
70’s retro: Swirly + vibrant patterns, flared pants, corduroy, platform heels, flowy boho tops and skirts etc.
I love the vibes of this trend sm. I feel like it is a lot more chill + fun compared to Y2K and I think it will always be considered one of the most unoutdatable (I don’t think that’s a word but like u know what I mean) fashion trends.
Current accessories:
Bottles: Previously it was the Hydro Flask but now we have entered the infamous 1L Frank Green bottle era…
Now I have nothing wrong with these bottles except for the fact that they cost $60!!! I think that nice bottles r great motivators and reminders to drink more water but I mean, just get a dupe.
Glasses: Rectangle sunglasses
I love these style of glasses so much however… I feel like they’re reeeally tiny and whenever you have to look at someone with them on, it feels like ur a librarian who needs to tilt their head down slightly.
Bags: Mini shoulder bags
So even tho these bags r so cute, they’re the most inconvenient thing ever. Like, it will barley fit ur phone + some tissues and that’s about it. On top of that, it will NEVER stay on your shoulder, no matter how hard you try. And on top of THAT, it’s rly hard to whip things out of it, you have to take it off your shoulder and awkwardly prop it against ur waist to get anything out.
Current products:
Skincare: Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow things
I have no idea if these r worth the money or not but the packaging is rly nice.
Perfume: Sol de Janeiro mists
I feel like they’re pretty cheap considering that they’re rly popular perfume, but again I have no idea if these r good or not.
Make up: Dior lip oil
The packaging is so cute and it’s giving big coquette core energy, but again I have no take on this except that it’s expensive.
Current books:
I’ve read none of these so I have no take on them, just admire the pictures.
everything I know about love
Happy Place
Lessons In Chemistry
Current songs:
All these songs play on my Spotify ads so often that now find them rly annoying (no hate, that’s just what happens to ad songs that interrupt my beautifully curated playlists).
Conclusion:
There are always gonna be trends. Like always. And no matter how “I’m not like other girls” we want to be, we will always have a take on things that r trending. Everyone always says to go against the trend and do what u want, but lets be honest, we want to be trendy; they are one of the most fundamental parts of societies culture for a reason, so just enjoy things while they last.
Side note of one of my best accomplishments:
I BEAT 2048. My long cycle of being defeated by 2048 has finally been broken!! All the time I have wasted playing this game has finally paid off and I will never be caught playing it again (as I have now conquered it). According to softonic only 1% of people have won 2048 🤗(that’s the closest emoji to making a ‘v’ with your fingertips under ur chin, that’s what I am embodying rn), so I am reveling in the glory.
one of my best accomplishments
Hope you have a trendy week

You gotta give everybody a new trend, a new wave, something new to do
