Y I ❤️ podcasts
This weeks thoughts:
I love podcasts so this week I'm dedicating a whole post to them. I also think there is need for a better balance between podcast listening and music listening so this is also a bit of a convincing to give them a go.
The zone of doing stuff:
So I love listening to a podcast when I'm doing things that don't take up too much concentration like cleaning, getting ready, walking etc. not only because it fills the void of silence but it also feels like multitasking. It's also good for productive down time because u can listen to them as a break from work but also find one that expands ur knowledge and interests you. In fact, it kinda forces u to have down time because it's really hard to listen to a podcast when ur doing smth that takes up a lot of concentration/ effort and not loose track of what's going on.
Feeling:
After listening to a podcast I always feel either smarter/ more informed or that I've been productive with my time. Like if I listen to a random episode about online echo chambers or even ppl gossiping abt fandoms I feel less guilty than scrolling through my phone. It also feels like I'm part of an exclusive community that chats abt random stuff which is so fun and wholesome.
Podcast vs music:
So I also love listening to music as well because it also fills the void of silence (or noise) in my brain but the main difference between them is that u listen them at different times. Like with podcasts u can't just zone out or get distracted by anything (unlike music) because u loose track of the convo. Times for podcast:
Not doing much at home (eating, folding, relaxing)
When on ur own
For learning/ being informed/ entertainment
Times for music:
Background sounds
Public travel (there's too much going on to concentrate on a pod)
When with other people
For vibing/ feeling emotions
Recs:
The Shit Show, this weeks news but more chill
Culture Vulture, culture news that has rly interesting deep dives
Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain, random interesting convos
Harry Potter and the Sacred Text, deep life questions but just through Harry Potter books
Culture Club, pop culture + current internet things and how it intertwines with our lives
2G1F and F1R the girls, my F1 era
Pods I'm trying out/ on my to listen list:
Shameless, it's rly popular
The Face with Matty Healy, interviews with Matty Healy and his heros
those F%#KING fangirls, book/movie fandom content
Good Influence, convos with Gemma Styles on mental health, media and climate
French Blabla and Little Talk In Slow French, I wanna be better at French
I also wanna get into true crime but I'm already listening to way to many podcasts and need to catch up. Veering off, when u start any podcast there's always a bunch old episodes to 'binge' which is kinda fun and annoying at the same time but don't be put off by it.
Side note of my life:
Um so I saw Harry Styles and Ed Sheeran live...
Ed: He's such a good musician like the notes he was hitting... also he did most of the show on a loop pedal which was so cool because most of the music was layered guitar which sounds so good live.
Harry: Um we got medicine (if u know u know). The whole thing was such a vibe because unlike Ed, Harry was a lot more dancey and interactive with the crowd. All I can say is that my bucket list is officially complete.
Hope you have a productive week

Lots of people listen to podcasts because they want to learn something and be entertained along the way
