Phone familiarity 📱
Changing my home screen leaves me so disorientated
This weeks thoughts:
Ok so recently I rearranged some of the apps on my phone and it left me super disorientated. Like you wouldn’t think that the layout of your phone is that meaningful but it’s crazy how diff it feels when u check the time and see a completely diff wallpaper. Anyway, it got me thinking abt how we r so familiar with our phones🤔.
Routine:
So, remember when the safari search bar went to the bottom of our phones?? That left me tapping the top of the screen for weeks. Anyway, I think the fact that it takes at least couple of days to easily find a rearranged app or familiarize waking up to a diff alarm, shows how our phones (communications + media) are such an ingrained and integral part of our lives. Like although I wanna live my main character moment and try to have a phone free week, that's not possible because how would I text ppl, wake up on time, listen to music or check the time (my watch broke a few months ago and I keep forgetting to get a new one)?? Ig my own doubt in living without my phone goes to show how first world lives literally revolve around technology.
Same but different:
On a lighter note I also love that everyone's phone is the same but different e.g. some r aesthetic with shortcuts, some have certain widgets, they all have diff backgrounds, diff cases etc. And although we r all consuming and doing the same things slightly differently we still go about our daily lives the same way e.g. some ppl use 24hr time on their phone but their perception of time is still the same.
Veering off, for an upcoming post I though I could dive into everyone's favourite feelings/emotions! Click the button below to fill out the rly quick feeling form 🥰.
Side note of some apps I have:
So along the lines of everyone having different phones I thought I could share some apps that I recently downloaded and use/ want to use.
Habit Tracker 🧘 As someone who never sticks to my motivation goals this is rly helpful for building habits like stretching every morning, going for a daily walk, practicing an instrument etc.Features: streaks, habit stats, widgets*I think this might be an IOS only app but there r lots of similar alternatives that r available on Android*
Substack 💌 So if u like reading blogs or newsletters, Substack has a whole variety of niche writers!! Just Some Thoughts is also on there and u can check out my suggested reads here as well 🥰.Features: chats, archives, easy subscribe libraries
Mealime 🥗 I feel like there are a bunch of meal/ recipe apps out there but I FINALLY found one that's free (with no subscriptions)!!Features: lots of recipes, cooking instructions (step by step follow along with timers built in), meal planning, groceries/ ingredient lists
Hope you have a buzzy week
