I love the word 'opposite'
Both noun and preposition
This weeks thoughts:
I think that the word opposite is such an interesting and contradicting word. Today ima talk abt two kinds of opposites: the position (like I’m standing opposite you) and the ~vibe~ (noun, like black and white).
Lemme start with the position one:
My definition of being opposite to someone is that you have to be mirroring each other just in a different position. But can you ever be truly opposite to something? Like take up the same amount of space and everything but just have something between you? Also if I’m standing next to someone am I opposite someone? Or does my face have to be facing their face for us to be opposite each other??
Now for the ~vibe~ (noun) one:
I think that for something to be opposite to something it has to be fairly the same with one certain difference. Like they have to be able to be compared to each other but have a difference. For example a dog is opposite to a cat but ✨a dog is not opposite to a pencil✨(that deserved sparkles) even though they have more differences. See what I mean, like if smth is opposite than it is kinda the same. Lowkey contradicting.
Veering off, maybe the common phrase “opposites attract” makes more sense now. Like if two people are different but similar then they are opposite but not in a drastic way.
Side note of smth I want but probs will never get:
This “Sushi Rolls Not Gender Rolls” badge, it’s so amazing but I’m not going to spend $30 on a badge sorry 😔
Hope you have a paradoxical week
